GODSPELL

Still excited about last fall’s church production of BIG RIVER – THE ADVENTURES OF HUCKLEBERRY FINN? What an amazing time we all shared together! Wondering, just when are we going to perform another musical … and what? Well, here’s your answer: GODSPELL Friday, November 9 at 7:30 and Sunday, November 11 at 2pm.

Just like in years past: scores and music will be given out weeks in advance to learn, study and familiarize ourselves with this great music, and then we will all come together a few days before the production and have a full company dress rehearsal (or two) - laughing, crying, singing all the way through.

GODSPELL is a favorite among many of the members here at Immanuel. The choir has performed nearly all of the pieces within the score during Sunday morning worship: On the Willows, Light of the World, By My Side, We Beseech Thee, All Good Gifts, just to name a few.

Keep those dates open! Say “YES!” when asked if you’d like to be a part of our musical family once again, and start “Preparing the way of the Lord!” For further questions or information, contact Aaron in the music office.

SONG AND DANCE

MUSIC AT IMMANUEL proudly announces its season opening event: Andrew Lloyd Webber’s smash Broadway hit – “SONG AND DANCE” starring Kristen Martin (the spirited single English girl who moves to New York in search of a new life and finds love) who will perform the “SONG” part of the production “Tell Me on a Sunday” in the Greenough Chapel Theater – the story told entirely in song without dialogue, and featuring such Lloyd Webber hits as “Tell Me on a Sunday”, and “Unexpected Song”.

Then, for the second half, organist Aaron Robinson will present in the Sanctuary of IBC, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s monumental “VARIATIONS” (the “DANCE”) on the mighty Immanuel Organ with full orchestration! This 2007-2008 season opening event is the largest and most spectacular to date.

More will be announced as the performance nears, but be sure to mark your calendars now! Only 3 performances and seating is limited to a mere 50 seats per performance: Friday October 26th at 7:30pm, Saturday October 27th at 7:30pm, and Sunday Matinee at 2:00pm."

USM Chamber Singers

November 27, 2007 -
The USM Chamber Singers will once again visit the extraordinary acoustic that is our sanctuary, Immanuel Baptist Church, for its annual Joyous  Sounds for a Festive Season. The year's performance features motets by  Palestrina, Victoria, and Poulenc and chansons by Hindemith as well as  excerpts sung in Russian from Rachmaninoff's eloquent All-Night  Liturgy . The second half features festive seasonal tunes. The $9 admission fee ($5 students) will benefit the European Tour Fund for the singers.
