WRAPPERS AT THE MALL....
Volunteer gift wrappers are needed at the Maine Mall to support PROP's
Gift Wrap Booth Fundraiser (which benefits the Parkside Neighborhood
Center). This year the fundraiser is partnering with Habitat For
Humanity of Maine as well.
This year you can schedule your time slot "on line" at
www.mktix.com/prop/giftwrap, or if you prefer to talk to someone
in person, please call Zoe Miller, Parkside Neighborhood Center
Director, at 874-1023. Several IBC volunteers will be "wrapping
it up" on Tuesday evening, December 4th from 7 pm to 9 pm, so stop by
with your gifts to be wrapped...or just to lend a helping hand.
IBC ADVENT GIFT GIVING/RECEIVING PROJECTS INCLUDE......
Adopt-A-Family - It's been our tradition to "adopt a family"
that is in great need. We will do so again this year. A "giving
tree" will be on display in the parlor with tags indicating a desired
item for you to purchase, wrap and return to the tree by December
19th. You will put a smile on the faces and a song in the heart of
six children and a Mom on Christmas morning.
UNICEF CARDS and GIFTS - Look through the catalog available on
the Outreach bulletin board.
HEIFER GIFTS - Consider giving a "Heifer" gift animal instead
of a tangible gift to Aunt Susie this year. Check our the Heifter
International catalog on the Outreach bulletin board.
BUY A "GREEN" TAG - Put a red bow on your "green" tag this
season...buy a Maine Interfaith Power and Light "Green Tag" to help
provide research of renewable energy sources. Call 721-0444 or order
on line at
www.meipl.org.
LaROMANA MISSION TOUR "SUPPLIES" - Make a financial
contribution for building supplies and medical supplies for the
January Maine mission work tour. Make check payable to Immanuel
Baptist Church with a memo line notation of "LaRomana Supplies."

IMMANUEL CELEBRATES IT'S WAYSIDE SOUP KITCHEN VOLUNTEERS
In celebration and honor of Immanuel's role in founding the Wayside
Soup Kitchen on April 14, 1986 when serving meals to the homeless and
hungry began in our fellowship hall, we felt it was about time to
recognize all who have ever given of their time to this ministry.
(A service of recognition
and reception was held Oct. 28, 2007)
Among the "original volunteers" still present at Immanuel include
Betty Cushman, Helen Brownell, Louise Mangiavas, Dotty Martell, Doris
Mershimer, Sylvia Nickels and Dorothy Tootill. For many years Betty
and Ivan Warden took time off of work to go to the Soup Kitchen early
in the afternoon (in Betty's role as kitchen coordinator) to cook the
meals on the first Monday of each month. Now, since Betty and Ivan's
retirement from the "kitchen', we are happy to learn that Immanuel's
newest member, Mike Marcotte, has offered to fill the position of
kitchen coordinator. Sadly, however, Dotty Martell and Betty Cushman
have also decided to retire from many years and hours of scooping up
food for the hungry. How many mouths have the "founders" and
long-term servants fed in their years of service??? THANKS TO
ALL....to the long time servants, and most recently, to the many new
faces of Immanuel volunteers who come so faithly on the first Monday
of the month. Why don't you join us there!
